A very visible sign of progress has appeared this week with the start on the carpark. The curbing has been laid, with the asphalt soon to follow. We will end up with our Bus Bay back on the front, and 20+ staff car parks in front of the building – with a main access way up the centre to the main building.
A lot of progress has been made down the back of the school with the big drain being laid from the culvert on the farm to Wharekura Stream – this is a major drain and will hopefully solve a lot of our water problems when we have heavy rain. The builders are currently completing a covered way up stairs over where the old lift shaft used to be, they are also extending the upstairs deck. All decks around the hall, and the Computer Suite etc. are being replaced. A new wall and windows have been installed on the back of the hall where the two classrooms were demolished. The next major exciting development will be the preparation and installation of a new junior playground between the new stairs and the hall.
At this stage it is looking likely that our main official opening of the building and other completed work will be in the first two weeks of Term 4 ie Mid October. This will be confirmed early next term.
Here are a couple of recent Photos of the back of the hall looking back toward the new buildings.
